Ahmedabad: A woman reported finding a lizard’s tail inside a cone of ice cream from a well-known brand in Ahmedabad. The shocking incident happened in the Maninagar area, following which the woman was taken to the hospital after she experienced severe vomiting.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, bought the ice cream cone from Mahalaxmi Corner, a popular local eatery in the area. According to her account, she was enjoying ice cream when, to her horror, a lizard’s tail emerged from the cone. Upon discovering the bizarre and distressing surprise, she immediately pulled the tail out.
Following the incident, her husband reported that they did not receive a proper bill during their purchase, which has raised concerns about quality control at the establishment. “If this can happen with a well-known brand, what can one expect from others?” he lamented, emphasising the need for greater vigilance regarding food safety.
This is not the first case in Ahmedabad, where there have been previous reports of foreign objects, such as insects, found in various food items. Just recently, another incident involved a dead cockroach found inside a pizza box from a popular outlet in Jodhpur, which sparked public outcries over food safety standards in the area.
The woman has expressed frustration with the response of the branch manager at the ice cream shop, who she claims did not take her complaint seriously.
The couple has urged local authorities and health officials to investigate the matter further, and the public is calling for stricter regulations to ensure the safety and quality of food served in restaurants and shops across Ahmedabad.
