New Delhi: AIMIM chied Asaududin Owaisi took a jibe at Pakistan, challenging Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army chief Asif Munir to land at the devastated Rahim Yar Khan air base. The runway of the airport was destroyed in Indian armed forces’ retaliatory attack on May 10.
The Rahim Yar Khan base, which is located in the Punjab province, was one of the air bases destroyed by the Indian Army under the Operation Sindoor. Other air bases of Pakistan affected are Rafiqui, Murid, Chakala, Sukkur, Chunian, Radar site, and Sialkot, some of them targeted with precision weapons. The missile fired at the facility airbase led to a massive crater on the portion of the runway, the district deputy commissioner said.
After India’s military strikes, the Rahim Yar Khan air base was declared non-operational for a week, as per a report by The Indian Express. This order was issued by the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) on Saturday.
There were reports that the facility would need extensive repair work after being hit by an Indian missile.
In a mocking post, Owaisi termed the air base as ‘Leased Chinese Aircraft’.
“Will S Sharief & A Munir be able to land their Leased Chinese Aircraft at Rahim Yar khan Airbase ?” Owaisi posted on X.

The Rahim Yar Khan airbase also includes Sheikh Zayed International airport.
According to a India Today report, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has initiated logistics to activate emergency airstrips on national highways. This development was in the wake of the strikes carried by Indian military.
