Will launch women’s team in MPL: League Chairman Mahanaaryaman Rao Scindia

Gwalior: MPL Chairman Mahanaaryaman Rao Scindia on Monday said that several new schemes have given a new life and charm to the Madhya Pradesh Premier League, this season. At least 10,000 people are watching the game on their devices, this is a big thing, said Scindia.

Player development policy is also helping new talent to come up, said the MPL Chairman. He said that we have launched the women’s team in MPL, which is a proud moment for us. In the whole country there are only 1 or 2 leagues, which have women’s teams, he added.

Scindia expressed pride that MPL managed to launch a women’s team in just 2 seasons, while other state leagues took more time to launch a women’s team. All this helped our league to become an international league, claimed Scindia.

Scindia said that he had planned soon after joining the GDC that he would start the women’s league in the second season of MPL, because the issue had been raised by several women. Women he claimed had told him that there was no cricket league for them.

He said that he hopes that this year, at least 10 to 15 cricketers from Madhya Pradesh, get an opportunity to play IPL and also at the international level. MPL will be their launchpad, claimed Scindia. He also talked about increasing viewership of the MPL on Jio. He said that at least 10 lakh people watch these games on the platform.

Talking about hosting international matches in Indore, Scindia said that work is currently going on for the development of the stadium and once that is complete, the city can host international fixtures.
