New Delhi: While denying Pakistan’s claims of civilian casualties in India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri questioned why terrorists were being accorded state funerals, with their coffins wrapped in Pakistani national flag. He was speaking at an MEA press briefing on Operation Sindoor on Thursday evening.
Misri displayed photo of Pakistan army personnel attending the funeral of three terrorists killed in the Indian military strikes under Operation Sindoor carried out on Wednesday.
He pointed out that Pahalgam terror attack was the root of provocation. “The Indian armed forces response to the Pahalgam terror attack was measured. India targeted only the terror infrastructure in Pakistan, but Pakistan attacked 15 locations in India. Pakistan will face serious consequences if it attacks our infrastructure,” Misri emphatically stated. Misri also said that Pakistan has deliberately targeted the Sikh community in Poonch.
“Now if there is an attempt at further escalation by Pakistan, it will be responded to in an appropriate domain and therefore the choices entirely that of Pakistan to make,” he underlined.
Misri also said that India had informed the UN about The Resistance Front – the Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy that claimed responsibility of the Pahalgam terror attack twice – but only Pakistan opposed any mention of the terror group in UN statement.
