Giriraj Sawant said that he received a message from Rishiraj at 3.30 pm on Monday. According to Giriraj, Rishiraj had said that he was going out for two days. “After that, he switched off the phone. We had no idea where he went? With whom did he go? For what purpose? As a father, Tanaji Sawant was left worried. Therefore, he decided to lodge a case. In the house, we inform everyone about who is going to be where every day. No one goes anywhere without telling anyone,” Giriraj Sawant added.

In the Rishiraj Sawant case, deputy leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) Sushma Andhare accused Tanaji Sawant of abusing power. In response, Giriraj Sawant said, “This is a family matter. The opposition should not politicise this. Such situations can happen in any family. We wish that no one else has to face such a situation. It’s time to put an end to this matter.”

How the drama unfolded

There was a dramatic turn of events after the news of Rishiraj Sawant’s disappearance and the suspicion of kidnapping. Rishiraj was later found to have departed from Pune airport on a private jet to Bangkok. Initially, the former minister hurried to the police station to file a missing person report. However, it was later confirmed that Rishiraj was safe and had left for Bangkok.

Reports initially suggested the alleged abduction of the former minister’s son, followed by news of his disappearance, with claims that he had gone missing from Pune airport. In response, Pune police swiftly launched an investigation and filed a complaint. They examined CCTV footage from the area and dispatched special teams to trace the “suspects.” Additionally, a police team visited Tanaji Sawant’s residence in the Katraj area of Pune to check if a ransom call had been received.
