Why Naga Chaitanya starrer Thandel is postponed? Allu Arvind reveals REAL reason

New Delhi: Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s most-anticipated Telugu film Thangel finally has a release date after much speculation. Chandoo Mondeti’s directorial, which was initially expected to be released around Sankranti 2025, will be released in February. The film marks the second collaboration between Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi after the success of the success of their film, Love Story (2021). During a press meet, the makers announced the official release date and even the reason why the film is not releasing during Sankranti next year.

Thandel release date

Thandel starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi will be released in theatres on February 7. During the event, director Chandoo Mondeti revealed that the film is in the final stage of shooting and will be completed soon. Following the shooting of the film, the makers will finalise post-production work and will kick-start with promotions.

Why Thandel is postponed?

During the press meet, Thandel‘s presenter Allu Arvind revealed the real reason behind the film not having a Sankranti release. He shared that many films are releasing during Sankranti 2025 and they won’t be able to get a “big release amid competition”. He further added that theatres need to be shared and the first weekend along with the first week is “very important” and if the film is a super hit, then the second week is equally important.

Arvind further revealed that they want a solo release with no opposition and undivided attention. He further explained that if they consider Maha Sahivratri, which falls on February 28 next year, it is not the right time for their film’s release as students will be busy with examinations in March. He further cited that at the end of the month, people are barely left with their salaries and hence, it’s not possible to get a good opening.

He also slammed the media for deciding themselves a release date for Thangel as they never considered Sankranti as a release date for the Naga Chaitanya starrer. He further revealed that the team has December 20 on their mind.”

About Thandel

The film revolves around a fisherman leader (played by Naga Chaitanya), who goes through challenges of coastal life. It is said that the film is inspired by real-life incidents. The film is also based on cross-border themes between India and Pakistan.
