‘Why is Pakistan getting deals and MoUs?’: Congress leader Shama Mohamed

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan over the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, Congress leader Shama Mohamed said on Sunday, “Everybody is with Pakistan and not with India.” Even after repeatedly engaging in terror activities, Pakistan continues to secure significant trade deals and sign MOUs with other countries, she said.

The Congress leader, who earlier came into light for body shaming Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma, slammed US President Donald Trump. The US President has repeatedly claimed that he had helped India and Pakistan reach a ceasefire after four days of military confrontation. Shama asserted that Trump believes that New Delhi and Islamabad are in the same basket.

Shama was quoted as saying by ANI: “Trump has repeatedly said… 11 times now…that has brought in the ceasefire. The Trump administration clearly said that we have imposed a trade embargo on Pakistan and India to get the ceasefire. He has put India and a ceasefire in the same basket. They are the perpetrators of terrorism, while we are their victims. After 26/11, the whole world was with us, now who is with us? Why is Pakistan getting deals and MoUs?… Why is everybody with Pakistan and not with India?” she told ANI.

The debate rages as India continues to carry out its campaign to stop Pakistan’s misinformation over Operation Sindoor. The operation was launched to retaliate the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Now, India has fanned out seven all-party delegations across the globe to explain India’s stance against terrorism and expose Pakistan’s terror links.

After the Pahalgam attack, where 26 tourists were killed, India destroyed nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Pakistan then targeted India’s civilian areas and military installations. The Indian armed forces destroyed air force bases deep inside Pakistan. As a result, Pakistan’s DGMO reached out to India to declare a ceasefire.

Defence Chief Chauhan admits to India losing jets

For the first time,  on Saturday Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan admitted that India’s jets were downed during the recent conflict with Pakistan. He told the Bloomberg TV: “What is important is not the jet being down, but why they were being downed. What mistakes were made — those are important. Numbers are not important.”

Chauhan asserted, “The good part is that we were able to understand the tactical mistake which we made, remedy it, rectify it, and then implement it again after two days and flew our jets again, targeting at long range.”
