Who is Ilma Afroz, the woman IPS who took on mining mafia in Himachal Pradesh

New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh High Court on Friday ordered reinstatement of IPS Ilma Afroz as Superintendent of Police (SP) of Baddi district in Himachal Pradesh. Now, Ilma will join as Baddi SP fter high court order. The court has also ordered a status quo in the matter.

Notably, Ilma Afroz returned to duty after a long leave following a disagreement with Himachal Pradesh government led Sukhu government. Shukhu government had transferred Ilma Afroz to Shimla from Baddi. She was made Baddi SP in January last year.

The woman IPS officer hit the limelight after she took on the mining mafia. Ilma Afroz challaned dozens of truck for being involved in illegal mining. These trucks allegedly belonged to Congress MLA from Doon Assembly constituency, Ram Kumar Choudhary’s wife.

Following this, the Congress MLA took on the Ilma Afroz and both stopped going to each others programme. The Congress MLA also accused Afroz of snooping on him and brought a privilege motion against him.
