WhatsApp Music Status Is Coming Soon! Set To Compete With Instagram?

WhatsApp is planning to release a new update that will enable users to share music in the app’s Status section. This much-anticipated feature in the instant messaging app is still in the beta version, but its application will allow users to add some songs to their photo or video statuses, which will help enhance the messaging experience through further personalisation possibilities.

The music-sharing feature reportedly found in the most recent WhatsApp beta v2.24.22.11 for Android comes with a music button built into the status section. When users select a particular photo or video to place as their status, this music icon will appear enabling them to search for and choose certain tracks or artists to be associated with the status. The feature will allow the user to add a background music that could support the given mood or complement the topic of the shared content in the status.

Once a song is chosen it will complement the selected media and add an extra touch to the status update giving users creativity in status update options. It enables the users of WhatsApp to set the mood of the chat or enrich the overplot of their post with an interactive feature. For instance, a user may decide to associate a romantic song with a sunset picture or an energising song with a fun video as more content to their statuses.

Will It Compete With Instagram?

The opportunities to add music to the status are opened to users of WhatsApp, similar to Instagram, which already added this feature. A move that is believed to lead to enhanced engagement of users on the application most especially on status where they become exciting. The opportunity to use music for display of content will presumably involve users glued to Instagram’s version but will appreciate the privacy, and communication platform in WhatsApp.

Expected Release and Upcoming Updates

Currently, only Stickered is in a beta phase, however, the music-sharing option should appear in future updates of the application. This addition is one of the many that WhatsApp continues to implement to improve the user experience through unlocking the app’s status feature. Given how more and more people employ statuses as a tool to share their latest news, this new option will let users express their mood, activity, and memorable events through music.

In the subsequent releases, there will be more functions that concern interactions in the popular messenger, which will expand the opportunities of users in building communication with friends and relatives.
