New Delhi: Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, inaugurated the Jagannath Temple in Digha on Wednesday. The temple a stunning replica of the iconic Jagannath Temple in Puri. The consecration ceremony took place with much pomp, splendour and grandeur. Sacred water from various pilgrimage sites were brought to the temple for the consecration ceremony. The event was attended by several celebrities and prominent figures from the music and film industry of the state along with political leaders.
Today, as the sacred Dhwaja rose above the Jagannath Temple in Digha, I witnessed a vision conceived in 2018 come to life.
With the Maha Yajna complete, we wait with bated breath for the Lord of the Universe to grace His humble abode by the sea.

The Jagannath Temple in Digha was constructed in the Kalinga architectural style. The state government constructed the grand structure at a cost of Rs 250 crore. As the estimations of the government, the temple will emerge as a major pilgrimage centre and tourism destination in the region. Taking to her official X handle, CM Banerjee wrote, “Today, as the sacred Dhwaja rose above the Jagannath Temple in Digha, I witnessed a vision conceived in 2018 come to life. With the Maha Yajna complete, we wait with bated breath for the Lord of the Universe to grace His humble abode by the sea. May His presence usher in harmony, strength, and enduring peace for all.”
