New Delhi: In an unusual incident on Friday morning, the convoy of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was abruptly stalled after 19 Innova cars broke down shortly after refueling at Bharat Petroleum-run Shakti Fuels petrol pump in Dosigon, Ratlam district in Madhya Pradesh. The issue was traced to adulteration of diesel with water.
The convoy made a brief halt at the petrol pump situated just off the highway at around 10 AM. Within moments of refueling diesel, the convoy came to a standstill after some distance. CM Yadav was on his way to the MP Rise Summit in Ratlam when the incident took place.
Cars parked off the road after fiasco
The cars had to be towed away after most of them broke down in the middle of the road. During the same time, a truck had also refilled about 200 litres of diesel and it too stalled on the road. It was then the area manager of Bharat Petroleum was called.
The manager, who was called to the spot, expressed his doubts about water seepage in the diesel tank due to rains as officials conducted inspection at the petrol pump.
Petrol pump sealed after incident
A preliminary inspection was conducted by the district officials. The Food and Supply Department had also reached at the spot and sealed the petrol pump with immediate effect. With the CM’s convoy immobilised, arrangements were made for backup vehicles from Indore which were the sent to Ratlam to ensure CM Mohan Yadav’s journey could continue without delay.
“There is a risk of rainwater leaking into the petrol pump’s tank that prompted the Food and Supply Department to seal the facility,” Deputy Tehsildar Ashish Upadhyay was quoted as saying by Bhaskar English. Upadhyay also assured that a detailed report will be submitted to the senior officials in connection with the incident.
