Watch: Telangana Police rescue 10 Chenchu tribe members trapped in swollen Dindi canal

New Delhi: Telangana Police rescued 10 Chenchu tribals trapped in the Dindi canal after heavy rains swelled the river. Caught in the rising waters after venturing out to fish, the group, including women and children, found themselves stranded as heavy rains swelled the river.

After receiving a distress call from the villagers, the police launched an 11-hour rescue operation, employing drones to locate the stranded individuals and deploying a team equipped with ropes and boats. The operation, which lasted throughout the night, saw the police carefully navigate the treacherous waters to bring the 10 Chenchus back to safety.

The successful rescue operation was met with accolades from Telangana DGP Jithender, who commended the leadership of Nalgonda SP Sarat Chandra Pawar and Nagarkurnool SP Vaibhav Gaikwad, along with the courageous efforts of the DSPs and CIs involved. The DGP lauded the police for their “fearless rescue efforts” in protecting the lives of Telangana’s tribal communities.
