New Delhi: Amid the Ganpati festival celebration across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today visited Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud’s house and offered rituals to the elephant-headed deity in the national capital.

In a video, CJI Chandrachud and his wife Kalpana Das are seen welcoming PM Modi to their home. The prime minister was wearing traditional Maharashtrian attire with the signature cap. He then offers aarti to Lord Ganesh with the couple by his side.

Posting on X, PM Modi shared pictures of his visit to the CJI. “Joined Ganesh Puja at the residence of CJI, Justice DY Chandrachud Ji. May Bhagwan Shri Ganesh bless us all with happiness, prosperity and wonderful health,” he wrote.

The grand celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi began in full swing across India on Saturday. This ten-day festival will culminate on September 17, when devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha through the immersion of his idols.

Though Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Ganeshotsav or Vinayaka Chaturthi, is celebrated nationwide, it holds special significance in Maharashtra as one of the state’s largest festivals. On the fifth day of the festival, over 2,500 Ganesh idols were immersed in Mumbai.

The Chief Justice hails from Maharashtra, the state that celebrates Ganeshotsav with maximum fervour. Grand processions are held in Mumbai and across Maharashtra on days when people bid adieu to the deity by immersing their idols in water.
