Vrindavan: In a surprising incident in Vrindavan, a monkey ran away with a bag full of gold and silver jewellery and cash worth around Rs 20 lakh. The incident took place on Thursday evening near Gautam Pada Tiraha, a busy area in the holy city.

Abhishek Agarwal, a resident of Aligarh, had come to Vrindavan with his family to offer prayers and perform ‘Bangla Seva’ at the famous Banke Bihari temple. After completing the rituals, the family was on their way back home in the evening. Abhishek was carrying a bag that contained valuable items, including a gold necklace, two rings, two tops, anklets and cash.

As the family reached Gautam Pada Tiraha, a monkey suddenly appeared from behind and snatched the bag from Abhishek’s hand. Shocked and scared, Abhishek began shouting for help, telling everyone that the bag held jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. Hearing this, people nearby gathered and tried to lure the monkey with Frooty and snacks to recover the bag.

Despite many attempts, the monkey held on to the bag for nearly an hour. When the situation went out of control, Abhishek informed the police. Soon after, the Vrindavan police, led by the Kotwal (station in-charge), reached the spot with a team and began searching the area.

After several hours of effort, the police successfully located the bag. All the jewellery and money inside it were found safe and returned to Abhishek and his family.
