Bengaluru: A differently abled woman fell into a pothole on a waterlogged road in Bengaluru. The video of the incident was widely shared which triggered a social media outrage. Sharing the video on Tuesday, HD Deve Gowda’s political party Janata Dal (Secular) also criticised CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar over city’s ‘crumbling infrastructure’.
The video was shared by the official X handle of JD(S). As per the video shared on social media, the incident took place in Varthur area of Bengaluru. JD(S) captioned the video, “Welcome to *Brand Bengaluru*! Where a physically challenged woman falling into a pothole during heavy rains is just another day in paradise. Sharing the video of the incident, BJP’s national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla tweeted, “State of Affairs in Karnataka especially in Bengaluru thanks to Congress. Siddaramaiah govt to ‘provide compensation’
After the video was widely shared on social media and caught public attention, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah said that his government will compensate for the loss caused by natural calamities. He added that he was closely monitoring all rain-related mishaps in the state. “We will provide compensation for loss caused by natural calamities resulting from rainfall. We are monitoring rain-related disasters and are making all necessary preparations. A site survey is also underway,” the Chief Minister said.
