New Delhi: A massive fire engulfed the vehicle parking area of Varanasi’s Cantt railway station in Uttar Pradesh during the early hours of Saturday, resulting in the complete destruction of at least 200 two-wheelers.
Dramatic visuals captured the scene, showing a raging inferno consuming the parking lot as firefighters and police struggled to contain the blaze. Videos depict emergency responders, including police officers, using water hoses to douse the flames, while thick plumes of smoke billowed into the air, creating a significant haze over the area.
Approximately 12 fire brigade vehicles rushed to the scene, along with teams from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police to manage the situation and ensure public safety. Despite the intensity of the fire and the significant property damage, officials reported no injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit may have been the cause of the fire. A large majority of the destroyed two-wheelers belonged to railway employees who parked their vehicles in the designated area overnight. The fire raged for approximately two hours before firefighters finally managed to bring it under control.
