Dehradun: The upcoming weekend weather in Uttarakhand is expected to bring a mix of rain showers, thunderstorms, and pleasant conditions across popular tourist destinations. While some areas will witness sunny spells, others may experience moderate rainfall and strong winds.

Travelers visiting Nainital, Mussoorie, Auli, Rishikesh, and Chakrata should be prepared for changing weather patterns, especially on coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Indian meteorological department (IMD), Dehradun predicted heavy rain spells in Nainital for the coming weekend.

Nainital: Intermittent heavy rains are expected

The lake city of Nainital will see partly sunny skies on Friday (May 23) with a high of 19°C and a low of 14°C, along with heavy rains in the evening. However, Saturday (May 24) is forecasted to bring rain showers, with a 45% chance of precipitation and slightly cooler temperatures. By Sunday (May 25), mostly sunny conditions are expected to return, though the possibility of light rainfall (30%) remains.

Mussoorie: Light rain and pleasant weather

Known as the Queen of Hills, Mussoorie will experience pleasant weather on Friday, with partly sunny skies and a high of 29°C. However, light rain showers are forecasted for Saturday (May 24), with a 51% chance of precipitation. By Sunday, the skies will clear up, leaving mostly sunny conditions and a comfortable temperature range.

Auli: Occasional rainfall with cooler temperatures

Nestled in higher Garhwal hills, the skiing paradise of Auli is set to have mostly sunny conditions on Friday (May 23), with a high of 27°C and a low of 17°C. By Saturday, light rain showers are expected, bringing cooler temperatures (23°C) with a 36% chance of precipitation. Sunday will see better weather, with the sun returning and minimal rain chances. Along with this, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning/intense spell of rain/gusty wind likely to occur on Friday and Saturday.

Rishikesh: Warm conditions with light showers

Pilgrims and adventure seekers heading to Rishikesh can expect warm temperatures of 35°C on Friday, with a slight chance of rain (12%). Saturday may bring light showers, cooling temperatures slightly to 34°C, with a 46% chance of precipitation. Sunday will be mostly sunny, maintaining dry conditions for most of the day. There are chances of gusty wind along with thunderstorm on Friday and Saturday.

Chakrata: Thunderstorms likely

For tourists exploring Chakrata, the weather will be significantly unstable, with thunderstorms predicted. Friday will remain warm, with temperatures reaching 31°C, followed by expected thunderstorms on Saturday (32°C). Scattered thunderstorms will persist on Sunday, making travel plans challenging due to unpredictable rainfall patterns.

Travel advisory for tourists

The IMD has advised tourists visiting these regions to stay updated on weather changes and prepare for unexpected showers, especially in hill stations. Light rain gear, warm clothing, and sturdy footwear are recommended for those exploring outdoors. Authorities continue monitoring weather conditions, ensuring pilgrims and visitors remain informed as the weekend approaches.
