During the winter season, water freezes or decreases due to snowfall and other rivers, which affects the Ganga River as well. In such a situation, water will be released from Tehri to ensure there is no shortage of water in Prayagraj, allowing water to reach the devotees easily. THDC executive director Dr. LP Joshi has provided information about a letter received by THDC from UP Irrigation department about releasing water after January 20. Currently, 200 cusecs of water are being released from Tehri Dam every day. On the demand of the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department, the Tehri Dam Administration stated that water from the dam will be released for Prayagraj as needed.
