Dehradun: Two weeks ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to the Mukhba, the winter seat of Ma Ganga in Uttarkashi district, the Uttarakhand government has swung into action to use this opportunity to promote winter tourism in the hill state. PM Modi is likely to visit Mukhba on February 27 and address a public meeting.

Chief secretary Radha Raturi reviewed the preparation for the PM’s proposed visit at a meeting attended by the state’s top officials, including the director general of police Deepam Seth. Chief secretary Raturi will soon visit Mukhba-Harishil to personally inspect the preparations on the spot and check all arrangements. This year the state government has given special focus to promote winter tourism in the state. The government aims to attract tourists and pilgrims from across the country.

CS asked officials to complete the preparations within stipulated time

At her review meeting, chief secretary Raturi directed the officials of the departments concerned to complete the preparations for the PM’s visit on time. She underlined the need for making fool-proof arrangements within stipulated time. She also directed the officials to complete the assigned responsibilities flawlessly.

Highlight the capabilities and possibilities of winter tourism

Terming Prime Minister Modi’s visit as an “invaluable opportunity” to promote winter tourism, chief secretary Raturi told the officials that special attention should be paid to highlight the possibilities and capabilities of winter tourism in the state in various programs to be organized during this period. She also added officials should keep in mind the protocol and security arrangements while preparing for the proposed visit of PM Modi.

Preparation for “Darshan-Pujan” programme at the temple

During his visit in Harishil-Mukhba, the PM will offer his prayers at the Mukhba temple, besides addressing a public meeting. The administration is preparing for the PM’s proposed programme, including “Darshan-Pujan at the temple as well as the public meeting.

Make effective parking arrangement

Chief secretary Raturi directed the officials to make effective   parking and transport arrangements near the site. She also directed the secretary, tourism department to organize an exhibition of winter tourist places of Uttarakhand in Harshil. She also said that an exhibition based on the local products of the state should also be organized on this occasion.

Uttarkashi DM presented details of the preparations

District magistrate, Uttarkashi, Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht, informed the state government that leveling work has been done for the Prime Minister’s program on the premises of the Horticulture Department in Harshil. Besides the beautification of the temple and village buildings in Mukhba, a convenient and safe path has been constructed for the temple. The roads of Harshil-Mukhwa area are being repaired. The construction work of the road till Bagori helipad in Harshil is in the final stage and other nearby helipads are also being made perfect.

Presenting details of all other arrangements related to the program at the review meeting, the district magistrate said Bisht that all preparations are in the final stage.
