Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government on Tuesday evening appealed to the local people of the state not to purchase lands from the outsiders who have previously bought the land by violating the local land laws. People from the other states, who are referred to as outsiders in the local language, can buy 250 square meters of land for residential purposes without taking any permission from the district administrations concerned. There are provisions in the local land laws for the outsiders to seek permission from the administration to purchase land above 250 square meters with special purposes.

According to him, information is coming that people from outside the state, who have previously bought land by violating land laws, are now selling these lands to the people of the state. He said that the local people are appealed not to deal with such people in any way. So that the local people do not suffer any financial loss in future, he further added.

Government said action is certain against violators of local land laws

Additional Secretary Revenue has also clarified that if any person from outside the state has bought land in the state by violating land laws, then action will be taken in those cases under the clear provisions of the land laws. Even if such a person later sells the land to the residents of the state, the person from outside the state will face actions in cases of violation of the local land laws. Action is certain on such violations. He said all the District Magistrates have been asked to be vigilant while registering the lands. The people involved in the violation of land laws are not able to cause harm to the residents of the state by selling the same lands, he said.

Recently, locals have been protesting against the outsiders who purchased land in Uttarakhand at nominal prices in the name of developing various industries in the hills.
