Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami seeks PM Modi’s approval for 21 hydro power projects in state

Dehradun: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh, on Tuesday, met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and congratulated him for the BJP’s victory in Haryana. CM Dhami also presented a replica of the Kedarnath temple to PM Modi.

During his meeting, CM Dhami expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for his regular support and guidance in the development of the hill state.

CM Dhami sought centre’s clearance for 21 hydro power projects

Chief Minister Dhami also requested PM Modi for the clearance of the 21 Hydro power projects from the centre. The expert committees have already recommended the implementation of 21 hydro power projects, with capacity of 2123 MW. These projects will be built on Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers and their tributaries. In July month, CM Dhami had sought the centre’s clearance for the projects during his meeting with union minister for power Manohar Lal Khattar at CM residence in Dehradun. The union minister Khattar had then visited Uttarakhand to review the progress of the Tehri hydro power complex and various urban development projects in the state.

Request for the transfer of three ropeway projects

CM Dhami also requested PM Modi for the transfer of three ropeway projects- Soneprayag-Gaurikunda-Kedarnath, Govind Ghat-Hemkunda and Kathgodam-Nainital- to the state state government for their operation and management.

Request for re-operationalizing the air service under RCS-UDAN in two routes

He also requested PM Modi to direct the Union Civil Aviation ministry to re-operationalize the air service in the state’s two different routes- Dehradun-Gauchar-Dehradun and Dehradun-Chinyalisaur-Dehradun under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, better known as RCS-UDAN. CM Dhami also requested him to direct the department concerned for operationalizing small planes from the Chinyalisaur runway in Uttarkashi district.

State government wants the centre to notify two roads as national highways

He also requested PM Modi to notify two roads- the “Khairana-Ranikhet-Bangidhar-Baijaron Marg” (256.9 km) and the Kathgodam-Bhimtal Lohaghat-Pancheshwar Marg (189 km) as the National Highways. These two roads have their own significance in the hill state as they connect the state’s both the regions- Kumaon and Garhwal. Similarly, he also urged him to get sanctioned the remaining length of Dehradun ring road.
