Uttarakhand: 38th National Games’s torch ‘Tejaswini’ reaches India-China Border today

Dehradun: With the aim of connecting more and more people with the organization of the 38th National Games in the state of Uttarakhand, a rally featuring the National Games mascot (Mouli), logo, jersey, tagline (Sankalp se Shikhar tak), and torch (Tejaswini) is being organized across the entire state.

The Tejaswini torch started from Dharchula on 2 January at 7 am and reached Gunji village near the China border via Pagla, Bundi, Chhiyalekh, Gabiyang, and Napalchu.

Locals, Army, and ITBP personnel welcomed ‘Tejaswini’

Local residents, officers, and jawans of the Indian Army 12 Jack, ITBP, and SSB expressed their happiness by giving a rousing welcome to the Tejaswini torch and team, sharing their photos with the torch and the National Games symbol Mouli, and raising slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai. The torch rally was conducted from the district headquarters to Dharchula and from Dharchula to the high Himalayan region of Gunji.

After returning from Gunji, the Rally headed towards Almora district

To inspire more and more people towards the National Games, the torch rally was started from Haldwani under the program ‘Sankalp se Shikhar tak’ for the 38th National Games. Today, it reached Gunji in Pithoragarh, the border area, and was sent off for Almora district. District Sports Officer, Pithoragarh, Anoop Bisht, informed that after conducting a rally in the district, the torch of the National Games was sent to Almora district this morning.

Torch Rally will promote the sports culture in the state

Rekha Arya, Sports Minister, Uttarakhand, stated, “Certainly, by reaching all the 13 districts of the state, this torch rally will promote the sports culture in the state, as well as inspire all the players to give a great performance in the National Games. I heartily congratulate all the residents of Pithoragarh district and all the sports lovers.”

Grand Welcome by the Soldiers in the Army and ITBP

In Dharchula, Sub-District Magistrate Manjeet Singh sent off the torch rally for Gunji and welcomed the rally of ITBP jawans at the checkpoint of Chhaialekh on the traffic route. The torch rally reached Gunji at 1:10 pm, where it received a grand welcome by the soldiers in the Army and ITBP area with garlands, bouquets, and collective slogans like Bharat Mata Ki Jai. The Army provided light refreshments to the rally members, while the ITBP provided food. A team of SSB soldiers participated collectively in the rally as scouts from Pangla to Gunji and back. A large crowd of sports-loving people and local residents was present during the torch rally of the National Games.

During the torch procession, District Sports Officer Anoop Bisht, District Youth Welfare and Provincial Guard Force Officer Dr. Jagdish Negi, Tehsildar Rajendra Mehta, District Information Officer KL Tamta, Regional Youth Welfare Officer Kuldeep Kumar, Media Executive Information Department Manish Joshi, Bhupendra Singh Chauhan, Karan Singh Thapa, senior officers of ITBP, Army, SSB, Tehsil administration, and local sports-loving people were present.
