US election ad shows women hiding votes for Kamala Harris from husbands; stirs debate

Washington DC: As the US awaits its next president, a political ad used in the Presidential election campaign is becoming a topic of discussion. The controversial ad showed women supposedly hiding their votes for Kamala Harris from their husbands. The advertisement left the conservatives infuriated.

The video showed a woman entering a polling booth after her husband exited the booth. The woman nervously looked at him and went on to cast her vote. She locked eyes with another woman at the booth and voted for Kamala Harris. Later, the woman went out to greet her husband. When asked if she made the right choice, she said she did. The ad narrated by actress Julia Roberts reminded voters that their vote was a personal choice. “Remember, what happens in the booth stays in the booth,” said Roberts. The ad captured by Vote Common Good faced severe criticism from the Trump camp. Netizens were split and the ad’s theme took centre stage in many discussions.

“Can’t believe all the emotionally and intellectually immature men on the right who are having a conniption over this ad,” said one. Another said, “Don’t use your choice to give up your choice.” Meanwhile, some opined the need for such ads in today’s age and time is concerning.

Addressing the controversy, Vote Common Good’s executive director Doug Pagitt claimed that many women follow their husbands’ opinions and cast their votes accordingly. The ad was viewed 725K times of YouTube.
