Dehradun: UPNL’ Karamchari Mahasangh (Employee federation) has called for an indefinite strike from November 11 in support of its various demands.  Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam, which is referred to as UPNL, is a public undertaking of the state government.

The decision to go on indefinite strike was taken at the meeting of the UPNL’s employee federation on Sunday evening. The president of the UPNL’s employee federation Vinod Godiyal said the leaders discussed the state government’s stance and the recent orders of the high court at the meeting.

Demand for quick action on the regularization of UPNL employees

The leaders demanded the state government to initiate action quickly on the regularization of the services of UPNL employees in accordance with the high court order. The federation also wants the state government to implement a minimum wage scale. The federation will fight this battle to take it to a logical end this time, the leaders spoke at the meeting.

State government’s announcement for action on regularization of services of UPNL employee

Vinay Prasad, who is general secretary of the federation, said that the employee will honour CM Pushkar Singh Dhami if he makes an announcement to initiate action on the regularization of the state government on November 9. If the state government fails to announce the action on regularization of the employees of the UPNL, the federation will go on indefinite strike from November 11. The meeting was attended by the state president of UPNL’s women cell Mina Rauthan and other leaders.

Government considers all technical issues

Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi recently asserted that the state government is considering all technical aspects before taking a final decision on the regularization of UPNL employees. He also admitted that there were certain technical difficulties regarding regularization of the services of UPNL employees. Government sources said reservation is a major technical issue in the regularization of the UPNL employees.
