Lucknow: Panic gripped the authorities at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow on Tuesday morning after the body of a newborn was found during a cargo luggage screening.

The shocking incident took place when staffers screening the cargo noticed a dead body packed inside a box checked in by a person who came to ship the parcel through a courier. The ground staff immediately alerted the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) about the discovery.

Upon receiving the information, CISF personnel swiftly took the man who had brought the package into custody. During interrogation, the accused claimed to be unaware of the newborn’s body in his package and could not provide any explanation, sources said.

The CISF has informed the airport police about the man being handed over to them for further interrogation while an investigation has been launched into this connection.

The airport police station in charge said a newborn’s body was found in the cargo area of Lucknow Airport, and the person who had come to send the courier is being interrogated. Preliminary information suggests that the body was to be sent to Mumbai for medical testing but the courier agent was unable to provide any relevant documents for the shipment.
