UP: Narrow escape for train in UP’s Bijnor after heavy stones found on tracks

Bijnor: Heavy stones were found on railway track in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh in an indication of conspiracy to derail MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train. The incident took place early Thursday morning.

The major accident was averted after the train safely passed over the stone breaking them into pieces. The train was traveling from Saharanpur to Moradabad.

The matter came to light after the loco-pilot heard a loud thud as the train hit the stones following which he applied emergency brakes and stopped the train.

The stones were reportedly placed on the railway tracks for about 20 meters on both the up and down lines.

As the train passed over the stones, they broke with a loud thud prompting the loco pilot to stop the train by using emergency brakes. Fortunately, no mishap took place after the passed passed over the stones breaking them.

Railway authorities probe incident

Local railway authorities say they were informed about the incident by the loco pilot. Soon after senior railway officials visited the spot near Murshadpur railway station.

Government Railway Police (GRP) Inspector Pawan Kumar, RPF officer Dhan Singh Chauhan, and senior section engineer visited the spot and initiated the investigation into it.

Railway officials are now probing the matter.
