Lucknow: Days after violence broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district, the Samajwadi Party has decided to send a 15-member delegation to the site where the incident took place, on Saturday. The Congress will also send a delegation to gather more information about the incident on Monday.
Recently, violence took place in the district after after survey at the Shahi Jama Masjid complex. As per SP Shyam Lal Pal delegation will submit its report to the party president Akhilesh Yadav following this visit to the violence-hit areas.
The situation got tense in Sambhal
Notably, the situation in Sambhal got tense after the first survey was conducted at the city’s Jama Masjid on November 19 on the orders of a local court. The person who filed the plea in the court claimed that Jama Masjid stands on a previous Harihar temple.
A group of protesters had gathered near the mosque on November 24. This followed a a clash with security personnel, that led to stone pelting and arson. At least four people lost their lives in the incident and several people were injured in the incident, including policemen. The police have denied any firing at the protesters.
Taking to X, Pal said that the delegation to visit the site would include the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Lal Bihari Yadav, SP state president Shyamlal Pal, among others. Ziaur Rahman Barq, who would also visit the site as part of the delegation, has been booked in connection with the case for allegedly committing “provocative acts”.
Samajwadi Party had postponed the visit earlier
The party had earlier postponed the proposed visit of its delegation after getting assurance from the police of a fair `probe into the incident.
