Draft report is being sent for printing

Sources said the 500-page draft report, which is being sent for printing, is likely to be submitted to the chief minister within two weeks. “CM Dhami is keen to announce the implementation of the UCC in the Himalayan state on November 9 on the state’s foundation day. It will be a historical day for Uttarakhand as it will be the country’s first state to implement the UCC,” a source in the state government said.

The legal process to be completed before the implementation of UCC

Sources said the final draft, which will be submitted to the CM Dhami, will be first sent to the state’s law department. “As per the legal process, the law department will take the final call before the state cabinet clears the draft report. Then the state government will notify the law,” the source explained the legal process before the CM’s announcement of the implementation of the UCC in the state.

Digital facilities for registration of marriages, Live-in relationships

As per the recommendations of the committee, the government will provide digital facilities for the registration of marriages, live-in relationships, documentations and corrections of wills, birth and death certificates. Sources further said the people will be given six-month time for the registration of their marriages. Such people, who have got their marriages registered in other states, will upload the details such as their marriage registration number on the web portal. The web portal and mobile applications, developed by the draft committee, are integrated with different portals of the central government.

Common Service Centres for helping people who are not tech-savvy

As per the plan, 15000 common service centres (CSC) will be set up across the state to help such people who are not tech-savvy. The CSC will extend help to all such people, who are tech-savvy, to get registered their marriages or other required things.
