New Delhi: A man in Bengaluru has sent a legal notice to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) for facing “physical agony and emotional trauma” due to broken and non-memorable roads in the city. In his notice, the man said he continued to face physical hardships despite being a tax-paying citizen.
As per reports published in NDTV, Divya Kiran (43) a resident of Richmond Town locality in the city visited orthopedics and four emergency visits to hospitals because of severe back and neck pains. He added that these jerks and trauma caused due to commuting on “treacherous roads” in the city. However, there has been no immediate response from the BBMP.
‘Due to B BMP’s gross negligence’
According to Kiran, he is not able to commute by two-wheeler or auto since damaged and uneven roads have severely worsened his spinal and neck condition. “It is due to BBMP’s “gross negligence and failure in discharging its public duty” that the man is facing “physical agony, emotional trauma, and financial burden”, the notice said.
Meanwhile, three people, including two women lost their lives due to heavy rains in the city. While one of the women died due to electrocution, another woman died after a wall of an office fell on her, news agency PTI reported. Earlier on Monday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the city received unexpected rains in the last 24 hours, which affected several parts of the city.
“Today, we have received unexpected rainfall—104 mm in the last 24 hours. Many areas in Bengaluru were affected,” the Chief Minister said while speaking to reporters after receiving updates from BBMP officials.
