Fire brigade reaches spot
Soon after receiving information about the fire at the temple, 3 fire engines rushed to the spot. Efforts are on to extinguish the fire. So far there are no reports of any injuries or casualties due to the fire.
Reports said that a battery kept above the CCTV control room caught fire and this led to the massive blaze. At the time of the incident, thousands of devotees were present at the temple. The temple authorities had closed the ‘darshan’ at the temple for a little while, following the fire. Devotees had to wait for around 1 hour to get inside the temple.
The fire led to black smoke which soon spread. Panic struck the devotees present inside the temple premises. The Sankh Dwar is the main entrance gate for VIPs to the temple. It is also the Gate No.1 of the temple, where the protocol office is located.
Soon after the fire, the electricity supply to the temple was cut off. This was done to prevent further damage. An investigation is going on to find out the exact reason for the fire.
