New Delhi: After the successful UFC 308 pay-per-view in Abu Dhabi, the UFC is returning to Canada after five long years. UFC Fight Night 246 will be headlined by Former Flyweight champion Brandon Morena and Amir Albazi in Edmonton, Canada, on Sunday, November 3.
Moreno had lost two consecutive fights in UFC, firstly he lost his Flyweight title to Alexandre Pantoja and then to Brandon Royval. Moreno is also headlining the second UFC Fight Night event this year. Whereas Albazi is still undefeated in the UFC. Albazi is coming from surgery as he last fought in the octagon in 2023.
In the co-main event, Former women’s strawweight champion Rose Namajunas will take on Erin Blanchfield. The women’s fight is in the flyweight category, Blanchfield is the no. 3 ranked and Namajunas is the no. 5 ranked. It will be an opportunity for Rose to come closer to the title shot.
The Black Beast Derrick Lewis won’t be competing at UFC Fight Night 246. Lewis was scheduled to fight Jhonata Diniz but was now forced to be removed from the fight due to medical issues. Lewis was also not present at the ceremonial weigh-ins for the event, that time UFC officials said the fight will be take place as per scheduling.
After the weigh-ins, UFC announced that Lewis was out of the event and the fight was called off. Diniz was fighting his first high-profile fight in the UFC but now he will be watching the event from his house.
