TMC’s victory parade slammed as 13-year-old girl killed in crude bomb explosion in Bengal’s Kaliganj

Kolkata: In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old girl was killed as the crude bomb exploded reportedly during the victory parade of the ruling TMC in Bengal’s Kaliganj. Notably, a bypoll took place in Kaliganj on June 19 and a 60.32 per cent voter turnout was registered during the polling. As per ECI, TMC candidate Alifa Ahmed is leading against Congress candidate Kabil Uddin Shaikh by around 5,000 votes.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to X (formerly Twitter) and expressed her grief over the incident. She wrote, “I am shocked and deeply saddened at the death of a young girl in an explosion at Barochandgar in Krishnanagar police district. My prayers and thoughts are with the family in their hour of grief. Police shall take strong and decisive legal action against the culprits at the earliest.”

West Bengal Police also said from their X handle, “Today, a 13-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries sustained from a bomb explosion in Kaliganj PS area of Krishnanagar police district. We shall spare no stones unturned to nab the culprits who were behind the incident. Raids are in full swing to arrest those responsible for this extremely unfortunate death. Our prayers and thoughts are with the family members of the deceased.”
