Moitra is known for her fiery speeches and outspoken stance, has a remarkable journey in the recent years. She was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December 2023 following the allegations related to the “cash-for-query” case. Her tenure as a MP was cut short when allegations surfaced by her ex partner Jai Anant Dehadrai, that was brought to the fore by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. Dubey accused Moitra of raising questions against businessman Gautam Adani. She was also accused for being a close aide to businessman, Darshan Hiranandani.
She made a comeback by winning the Krishnagar seat from West Bengal in the 2024 general elections.
Her new husband, Pinaki Misra, is a seasoned politician from Puri, who has served the BJD as a Lok Sabha Member.
The TMC MP was earlier married to Danish financier Lars Brorson. She, later, had a public relationship with advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai.
The party has been completely silent over this wedding. A party MP, speaking on conditions of anonymity to The Telegraph, admitted, “I am not aware”.
