Snowfall has not been seen in Himachal Pradesh so far this year. The people of the state may be longing for snowfall, but the Public Works Department has made concrete arrangements to deal with snowfall. In this direction, for the first time, the Public Works Department has established a Calcium Chloride Brine Plant near the RTO of Shimla. It was inaugurated by Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh. This chemical will be useful to avoid accidents on the roads during snowfall. It will be used to remove snow accumulated on the road. Calcium chloride will be sprayed on the roads just before snow falls. By spraying this chemical the snow will melt immediately when it falls.
Roads will not be jammed
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that due to snowfall, roads get jammed with snow. A lot of money is spent on snow removal, which also involves corruption. To deal with this, the Public Works Department has planned to use calcium chloride brine. Its spraying will melt the snow immediately and along with saving money, corruption will also end. After Shimla, the Public Works Department will set up such plants in other snowfall areas also.
It will cost this much per kilometer
This method of removing snow from the roads is very economical. Talking about its cost, it will cost only Rs 500 per kilometer of snow removal. The Public Works Department will set up such plants in 12 heavy snowfall areas. Vikramaditya Singh says that his department is fully prepared to deal with the problems caused by snowfall. Modern machines are being made available for the areas of Himachal which receive more snowfall and some machines have also been taken temporarily from other departments.
