Thailand: Drunk British man covered in poop falls from hotel balcony in Pattaya

Bangkok: Tourists in a hotel in Thailand’s Pattaya were in for a shock after a drunk naked man covered in faeces fell from the second-floor lobby straight to an adjacent internet cafe and wedged into its ceiling. The 51-year-old suffered minor injuries and was detained by the police.

The man has been identified as Paul Hadfield, a resident of Blackburn, Lancashire in the UK. He was reported to be “extremely drunk” when he came back to his hotel early Monday.

At the scene, the fall caused alarm among nearby tourists and locals. Rescuers discovered Hadfield with half of his body dangling through the ceiling of an internet café below, calling for help, Metro.co.uk reported.

Emergency responders carefully pulled him from the roof, provided first aid, and rushed him to a nearby hospital. It was later confirmed that he had fallen from the hotel’s second-floor balcony, crashing through the cafe’s ceiling on impact.

When rescue workers inspected his second-floor room, they were taken aback by a disturbing scene: human faeces smeared on the bed and floor. Police noted “suspicions” about his activities but said they had found “nothing illegal”.

Police lieutenant Thanawee Yarangsee said they had a slight idea about what he was doing in the room to make it so dirty but there was nothing illegal. He added the police would have to negotiate with the hotel about the bill damage caused to the room as it’s his private life.

An eyewitness reported hearing a loud crash and, upon looking up, saw legs dangling through the ceiling, prompting him to call for help.
