Tension has arisen over the flag of Hanuman ji in Keragodu village of Mandya district of Karnataka. The situation has become so dire that Section 144 has been imposed in the village and police force is also deployed on a large scale. This whole matter started last week, when a group of some youth had installed the flag of Hanuman ji on a 108 feet high pole. Permission to put up this flag was given by the Gram Panchayat, but some people filed a complaint against it. After this, the officials requested the villagers to remove the flag.
Due to this matter, the situation became tense and force has been deployed in the village. Most of the people of the village say that this flag is a question of our faith and some people are doing politics on it. Along with the villagers, people from BJP, JDS and Bajrang Dal have also come down. Demonstration is also going on in the village. The villagers had also closed their shops in protest against the order to lower the flag on Saturday. On Sunday, Gram Panchayat officials had reached the spot and wanted to take down the flag. A large number of villagers gathered against this and started raising slogans of ‘go back’.
The dispute took a political turn when posters of local Congress MLA Ravi Kumar were torn down. After this, Congressmen also came into the field and at present there is a situation of tension in the village. A large number of police forces have been deployed to prevent the situation from worsening. BJP and Hindu activists have opposed the removal of the flag. BJP has announced that if the flag is removed then there will be agitation in all the districts of Karnataka. On Monday, BJP workers also gathered near Mysuru Bank Circle in Bengaluru. During this period, the police have detained a large number of BJP people.
BJP said- Anti-Hindu government is removing the flag of Hanumanji
Police say that the flag of Hanuman ji should be removed and the national flag should be replaced with the tricolor flag. Official sources say that the flag was funded by the people of Keragodu village. Apart from this, people from other 12 villages also contributed for this. People from BJP and JDS also contributed in this. BJP has started attacking Congress regarding the police action in this matter and termed its action as anti-Hindu. BJP leader R. Ashok said that this flag was installed with the approval of the Gram Panchayat. Then why does the Congress government want to remove it now?
