Chennai: A 27-year-old female karate coach was arrested in Thoothukudi for kidnapping a 16-year-old Class 12 student from Perambur, Chennai. The student’s parents filed a complaint with the VK Nagar police after she went missing on October 17.
Investigations revealed the coach’s shocking plan to marry the student by undergoing a sex change operation in a northern state. After that she decided to legally marry the student. Police tracked the coach’s cellphone location to Arumuganeri, rescued the student, and booked the coach under kidnapping and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) laws.

The student had been training under the coach at a Perambur karate school. The coach, from Arumuganeri, Thoothukudi district, gained the student’s trust before kidnapping her. Police consulted legal experts and arrested the coach after interrogation.
The police are investigating further to ensure the coach faces appropriate consequences. The student has been reunited with her parents and is receiving counseling to cope with the traumatic experience.
