Stone pelted on Bhagalpur–Howrah Vande Bharat train, no injuries

Stone pelted on Bhagalpur–Howrah Vande Bharat train, no injuries

New Delhi: In a shocker, there was an incident of stone pelting on the Vande Bharat train, which was on its way from Bhagalpur to Howrah on Monday. The incident took place between Bhagalpur and Tikani stations, near Hatpuraini halt. There was no report of any injury after the incident. The authorities have launched a probe to look into the incident.

According to an official, the officials are looking at the CCTV footage from the train to identify the culprits. Speaking to ANI, Manish Kumar Gupta, Malda DRM said, “An incident of stone pelting occurred on Bhagalpur–Howrah Vande Bharat Express, near Hatpuraini halt, located between Bhagalpur and Tikani stations yesterday.”

‘Two windows damaged after the incident’

“As a result of the stone pelting, the window glass of Coach No. C2 (seat nos. 53 and 54) was found broken. No injuries were reported. CCTV footage from the Vande Bharat Express is being reviewed to identify the culprits. The RPF is taking all necessary steps to ensure the perpetrators are identified and dealt with as per the law,” he added.

In a similar incident last month, unidentified miscreants pelted stones at Rourkela-Puri Vande Bharat Express train in Sundargarh district. Two windowpanes of the coach were damaged. The incident took place between Kansbahal and Kalunga railway stations near Rourkela.

As per the report published in ‘The New Indian Express’, passengers panicked after stones were hurled at the windows. After reaching the Rourkela station, passengers informed the railway officials about the stone pelting, after which personnel of the Railway Protection Force reached the spot to probe the matter.
