‘Stand on your own feet’: SC tells Ajit Pawar’s NCP not to use Sharad Pawar’s photo

New Delhi: In a major setback to the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered them against using photos of party founder Sharad Pawar’s photos in election related campaigns.

The bench led by Justice Surya Kant also directed both the factions to ‘respect’ the wisdom of voters and focus on the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the Sharad Pawar faction, claimed that the Ajit Pawar faction was violating an Supreme Court order pronounced earlier over use of videos of Sharad Pawar to bolster its image. Singhvi argued that Ajit Pawar’s group was trying to ride on the reputation of the senior Pawar.
