Social media & pilgrimage documentation under scrutiny

Malhotra, a popular travel vlogger from Hisar, Haryana, has uploaded multiple videos showcasing religious sites across Uttarakhand, including details on accommodations, food services, and local customs. Some of her videos feature conversations with sages in Kedarnath, where she is seen asking about shelter options for devotees, including room costs ranging from Rs 7,000 to Rs 22,000.

Authorities are now reviewing whether her frequent documentation of sacred locations had any underlying motive beyond travel blogging. Given her alleged connections with Pakistani officials, investigators are examining whether her recordings contained sensitive data.

Dehradun to Nepal route also investigated

Malhotra’s travels extended beyond Uttarakhand, with reports confirming her journey from Dehradun to Nepal using the Friendship Bus service. In one of her videos, she provided detailed insights into how travelers could navigate from Dehradun to Mahendranagar, Nepal. Considering her espionage allegations, the authorities are now determining whether this cross-border travel was linked to any suspicious activities.

Police monitoring digital footprint

Security agencies, including Uttarakhand Police, are actively monitoring her digital footprint, reviewing her videos and social media posts to detect potential links to intelligence-related activities. IG Garhwal Region Rajiv Swaroop stated that officials will investigate all aspects thoroughly if new relevant information emerges. The focus remains on assessing her movements, conversations, and video content, ensuring that no security compromises occurred through her travels.

Public reaction & ongoing probe

The arrest of Jyoti Malhotra has sparked speculation about the role of content creators in security-sensitive regions. While some argue her videos merely document travel experiences, officials remain cautious, ensuring a thorough assessment before drawing conclusions. As new revelations surface, the authorities continue their detailed investigation, keeping a close watch on her Uttarakhand activities and other unexplored links.
