Hyderabad: A SpiceJet flight from Hyderabad to Tirupati returned to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport just 10 minutes after take off. Reports said that the flight was forced to return to Hyderabad after it encountered a technical snag soon after taking off for Tirupati.
Flight had 80 passengers
According to a report in the Mint, the flight Q400 operating between Hyderabad and Tirupati experienced an intermittent illumination of the AFT baggage door light after take-off. A company spokesperson said that the cabin pressurization throughout this time remained normal. But as a precautionary step, the pilots decided to return to Hyderabad. The flight had 80 passengers onboard.
The spokesperson added, “The flight landed safely in Hyderabad and the passengers were deplaned. The aircraft did not make an emergency landing. An alternate aircraft has been arranged to take the passengers to Tirupati.”
The incident comes soon after the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. This unfortunate air crash led to the death of 241 people onboard the plane. One passenger miraculously survived. Following this incident several emergency landings were reported from across India. On June 16, a Saudi Arabia airlines flight made an emergency landing at the Lucknow airport. This plane was carrying 250 passengers, many of whom were Hajj pilgrims.
In another case, an Air India flight made an emergency landing in Phuket after a bomb threat. The incident happened on June 13. The flight AI 379 was bound for Delhi and after a thorough check, it was reported that the threat was a hoax.
