New Delhi: The Shillong Teer is a lottery of Meghalaya state. It is played everyday and the results are declared in the evening. People can buy tickets and take part in the game. When one buys tickets, they get a certain number of arrows which they need to shoot at a predesignated target. The winners are decided on the basis of the number of arrows shot correctly, which hit the exact target.
The game is played at the Shillong Polo Stadium and the tickets for the game can be bought from several ticket centres spread across the state. They are also available for sale online. The Khasi Hills Archery Association is the organising agency for the lottery game. It has 12 archery clubs in its fold. The game is governed by the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax Act. Some of the other states where the lottery game is played and is legal are Kerala, Nagaland and West Bengal.
Rules of Shillong Teer Lottery
LIke any other game, the Shillong Teer is also governed by certain rules. All those who buy tickets get 50 arrows, which they need to shoot at a target. Those participants who hit the bulls eye/shoot arrows at the designated target are declared winners. The participant who shoots the most arrows at the target is the winner of the game.
At least 5,000 counters across Meghalaya sell the tickets of the Shillong Teer. Those who want to play the game may visit these and buy tickets.
