New Delhi: Shillong Teer is a lottery game played at the Shillong Polo Stadium in Meghalaya every day. Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association (KHASA) organises the lottery game. Based on archery, Shillong Teer is governed by rules framed under the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax Act.
Those interested in the lottery game can purchase tickets from designated counters. The lottery game tickets are sold at 5,000 designated ticket counters in 11 districts of Meghalaya. Meghalaya is among few states where lottery game is legal. Nagaland, Manipur, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Goa also allow lottery game.
At the beginning of the game, the players get 50 arrows and they have to hit them at a pre-designated target – 30 in the first round and 20 in the second round. As per the game rule, the individual who hit the maximum number of arrows at the target is declared winner.
