New Delhi: The Shillong Teer lottery game is held every day in Meghalaya. This lottery game, Based on archery, is played at Shillong Polo Stadium. This is organised by Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association (KHASA).
One of the lottery games which is legal in India, the Shillong Teer, is governed by the rules which were under the Meghalaya Amusement and Betting Tax Act. The player who shoots most number of arrows or ‘teers’ at the given target emerged as the winner.
Across Meghalaya, there are nearly 5,000 designated ticket counters. At these ticket counters, tickets of this lottery game are sold. As a rule of the game, every player is given 50 arrows. Out of these 50 arrows, 30 arrows are to be hit at the target in the first round and 20 in the second round. The player who shoots the maximum number of arrows at the target is declared the winner . It is only in 13 Indian states that lottery game is legal. Apart from Meghalaya, lottery game has got legal stamp in Goa, Manipur, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh.
