New Delhi: Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his 59th birthday on November 2, 2024. King Khan once jokingly admitted to smoking around 100 cigarettes a day and has often spoken about his smoking habit. During a recent meet-and-greet event, he announced that he would finally be quitting smoking.

In a recent video posted by Shah Rukh Khan’s Universe on Instagram, SRK was seen announcing that he will not be “smoking anymore”. The crowd was surprised and went wild as cheers erupted. This news came after his 59th birthday, here is what the actor had to say about it.

Shah Rukh Khan quits smoking

The actor might have quit the habit due to heavy smoking that led to him feeling breathless. Shah Rukh explained that he still feels breathless despite quitting smoking, which he thought would improve after leaving the habit behind. “Mujhe laga tha ki I will not feel so breathless, but abhi bhi feel kar raha hoon,” said SRK. However, he remained hopeful as he believed that his body would heal itself sooner or later.

In a 2011 interview, the actor jokingly admitted that he would smoke around 100 cigarettes a day, drinking about 30 cups of coffee, and often forgetting to eat or drink water. However, the actor also changed over time as in 2017, he first put forward the wish to quit smoking. Shah Rukh explained that he wanted to spend more time with his youngest son AbRam.
