Scindia royal legacy upholds tradition: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia joins Mahakal’s Shahi Sawari today

New Delhi:  Yuvraj Mahanaryaman Scindia of Gwalior royal family and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, on Monday, are coming to the royal procession program.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, the 14th descendant of the Scindia royal family, is also coming to Ujjain to carry out the same tradition, which started during the Scindia era.

In 1732, about 300 years ago, Ranoji Scindia of the Scindia family renovated the Mahakaleshwar temple. After this, the temple which was closed for 500 years was reopened and the procession of Lord Mahakal started again. Simhastha Kumbh was also started after 500 years. From that time onwards, the process of some or the other member of the Maratha Empire Scindia royal family participating in the procession of Lord Mahakal started. The Scindia family is still carrying out this tradition.
