Saudi Arabia bans release of Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 – Here is why

New Delhi: Bollywood lovers across the globe are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in cinemas. Both are amongst two of the most anticipated films of 2024. Both movies are set to storm cinemas on Friday (November 1, 2024), adding to Diwali festivities at the Box Office. However, Bollywood fans in Saudi Arabia were disappointed when news surfaced online about the ban on Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in the country.

According to Mid-day.com, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 was denied release in the Middle Eastern nation due to homosexual references, while Singham Again faced a ban over its portrayal of religious conflict. But, both movies are expected to be released as scheduled across the rest of the UAE.

It is to be noted that Saudi Arabia’s film certification board is highly strict. Films that don’t comply with their guidelines are often banned without exception. Movies with religiously sensitive content, explicit sexual themes or elements that oppose local customs are typically restricted in Saudi Arabia. Filmmakers sometimes edit content to meet Saudi standards, but if they don’t, the films do not see a release on Saudi soil.
