Nainital: As Kainchi Dham prepares for its grand foundation day celebrations on June 15, devotees are set to witness a unique offering—a special devotional perfume created exclusively for Baba Neem Karoli.
Following the long-standing tradition of offering blankets, this fragrance, named ‘Sugandh Prasad’, will be sent from Kannauj, the perfume capital of India, to the revered ashram in Uttarakhand.
A fragrance crafted for devotion
Perfume merchant Nishi Tiwari, who has deep spiritual ties with Kainchi Dham, has meticulously blended jasmine and camphor to create a divine scent that embodies faith and devotion. Unlike commercial perfumes, this fragrance will not be available in markets—it is exclusively meant for Baba’s devotees. Tiwari explained, “This perfume is not for sale. It is created purely for devotion, allowing devotees to experience a spiritual connection when they apply it.”
501 bottles to be distributed as prasad
As part of the foundation day rituals, 501 bottles of ‘Sugandh Prasad’ will be distributed among devotees through the temple committee. The fragrance is expected to enhance the spiritual atmosphere, much like the blankets offered to Baba, which are believed to carry his blessings.
The tradition of blanket offerings
For decades, devotees have offered blankets to Baba Neem Karoli, honoring his preference for simple attire—a dhoti and a blanket. These blankets, once touched to Baba’s idol, are returned to devotees as prasad, believed to bring healing and prosperity. Bhuvan Bisht, associated with the Kainchi Dham Trust, shared, “Blankets have played a role in many miracles of Baba. His devotees deeply believe in their spiritual power.”
