Temperature variation may be a cause behind her death

Since Gangnani spring, the site of her death, is close to Gangotri shrine, there are chances of temperature variation. While Gamnani is a hot spring, the Gangotri shrine area records a very low temperature in winter. “Russian woman was in the habit of swimming frequently in the hot spring even after sunset. So, her death may be caused due to the temperature variation,” Manoj Aswal, station house officer of the Maneri police station told news9live.com on phone.

Russian woman stayed at Parashar Kund late in the night

According to police, the Russian woman had gone to Parashar Kund for swimming on Saturday evening. She continued to do meditation for several hours. “Around 9 pm, her Russian friend also went there to take the bath. She returned to her hotel in Gangnani area around 10.15 pm. However, Russian woman Lubiana stayed there. She was in the habit of having a good time at the same spot,” Aswal further said.

A sweeper saw her body floating in the Kund

A sweeper, who went to the Parashar Kund area for the cleaning job, first saw the Russian woman’s body floating in the Kund next morning. He shared this information with local shopkeepers. Later, the information about the floating body of the Russian woman reached the police station. Subsequently, Police reached the spot and took her body for post-mortem.

She reached Uttarkashi a month back

Russian woman Lubiana was accompanied by her two friends- a woman from Russian and a man from a European country. She had met her two friends during her tour of South India. They were currently visiting different religious sites in India. In Uttarkashi, she had reached a month back. While she was on way from Gangotri, she stayed at Parashar Kund for some time. She liked the place and decided to stay in the area near the Kund.

The information about the Russian woman’s death has been given to the Russian embassy in New Delhi.
