RG Kar case: SC orders social media sites to bar posts revealing victim’s identity

New Delhi: The Supreme Court today ordered all social media platforms to remove pictures and videos of the woman trainee doctor who allegedly raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The order came following a complaint by the victim’s family members about the doctor’s identity and pictures being used on social media posts.

The apex court began hearing the RG Kar case as it read the status report filed by the CBI over its investigation into the case. It ordered the social media sites to prohibit any posts that carry the name and picture of the victim.

(This is a developing story. Further details will be added).
